What does Canada do Beyond Its Own Borders?

Canada is a busy participant in many areas of the world. Some of the things it does are useful, and some not so terribly useful.

Before we get into the specifics, your job today is to think. I know, that’s tough, but you can do it.

If you were prime minister, obviously your job is to be involved running the country. But a government doesn’t only run things inside its country; it’s involved in other things, for example:

  • Trade
  • Military deals
  • Power sales
  • Communications
  • Foreign aid

Your job is to speculate. Creating a web of ideas with your government as the central point, what areas do you think a government should be involved in outside its own borders? What areas do you think the government is involved in?

Your web of ideas will look something like the one shown below, only it will have 15 to 20 different things on it.
