Your Newspaper

Before you make your web page, make a rough sketch on a piece of paper to show where all the various parts of the assignment will be located. Make sure I see the sketch before you begin.

Make a website that looks like a newspaper. It should:

  1. have three columns.
  2. have a title or heading like "The Sun," "The Journal," or "Leader-Post."
  3. have a newspaperish color.
  4. use at least two different fonts with at least two different styles like italic, bold, underlined, or regular.
  5. have a box where you run an "ad" for something appropriate and in good taste.
  6. have appropriate articles. They don't have to be true, but try not to just cut and past something. Have a bit of fun with it.
Your assignment will probably look something like what you see on the right. (Click on the picture if you want to see a larger version.) Now make it look funky.
  • Add a couple of pictures.
  • Stretch an article across more than one column.
  • It should look attractive and be something that shows pride in your accomplishment.
As you think about this, remember that something like this would make use if at least one table.
  1. Keeping your table columns standard widths will help.
  2. Know what your column widths are and make your pictures multiples or that.
  3. Make liberal use of COLSPAN and perhaps ROWSPAN.
  4. Don't forget to include TITLE tags.
